Homework List Art 1 Spring 2010

1/22 Chiho Aioshima-create a Surreal Perspective Cityscape in Aioshima’s style, include the theme; “Illuminate your Dreams”
2/5 Mac-faces and figures large scale. Study the work of street artist El Mac. Use a close up family photo, draw it in Mac’s style by zooming in close, add lines that show movement, draw large- over 2 pages in your book
2/19 Backcover of book –face studies-Using the rules of the face, cover your back cover with face sketches, you can use face parts, a ½ face or an entire portrait. Work from life or photos-develop your own style
3/5 Kehinde Wiley-Figure with patterns. Study his work. Have a friend, sibling, or parent pose for at least 15 minutes, draw them and add a pattern which connects the figure to the background.
3/26 Design a form for an abstract paper sculpture which is made from straight pieces. Study the examples provided.
4/9 Tree of Life-Draw 3 Objects, you may create animals, leaves, flowers, or figures that will be made in clay then connected to the class collaborative tree form
4/23 Maya Lin -Design a monument. Study her work. Select a
Cause or issue which you feel strongly about in which people have been hurt, displaced, or killed. Design a public sculpture which honors the victims. You may include a place for names.
5/7 Add personal style to book-Reflect on all of you’ve learned
this year in art, then add your favorite elements to the whole book (color? Media? Collage? Design ideas? Techniques?)
5/21 Book DUE-Must contain at least 10 drawings, front & back
Cover art, notes from class, originality, style, & craftmanship
